I can concur. I bought a code signing certificate. The process was notoriously confusing and eSigner was enabled by default and I can assure you that nowhere along the process was I informed of the following recurrent charges.

Got charged 20$/month after that, which I cancelled by following this article. Thanks!

They caught me again. This time only $20 before I noticed.

You need to revoke the esigning cert to stop the charges.

I got caught a second time (more fool me). When they get you to go through validation on the first page there is a prechecked check box at the bottom of the page. Although it does not say eSigner it alludes to it and if left checked it will sign you up for eSigner.

Thanks for this article. I also fell into this trap. They haven't changed the process and still automatically sign up people for esigner...

Looks like they changed the process to where you have to sign up on your own for eSigner.

I too went through ssl.com for an EV cert, and I also had problems. Without asking you ssl.com will automatically enroll you in their 'esigner' cloud service with a minimum cost of $100 per month.
To get out of this you need to go into your certificate order and revoke the use of esigner. Nowhere does it tell you that you will be enrolled in esigner and how to get out of it. It took me several sessions with customer support before they told me how to get out of esigner, and then only after my credit card was charged $100.
It is just short of a scam.
