I am humbled as I failed to connect to Gilat via PPPoE on my Linux router. This router was able to connect successfully to Spanish fiber providers via VLAN over ethernet (over Fiber) and here - I was unable to complete PAP authentication. Sniffing the packets on the physical interface showed that the pap authentication request was sent correctly, but there was no reply.
Asus router successfully connected via PPPoE, so I am at a loss. I was unable to connect using another Linux desktop nor another Windows machine... I would blame myself at the problem, but I cannot seem to find what I did wrong. Any hint or idea would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Perfect advice, struggled with pppoe high cpu for months, solution is one liner on centos:

--- a/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0
+LINUX_PLUGIN=/usr/lib64/pppd/2.4.5/rp-pppoe.so
